The vast majorities of people — yes, evens many Christians — have no idea that there are three kingdoms operating in our world today:
- The human kingdom (based on earthly power and systems)
- The demonic kingdom (under Satan and darkness)
- The divine kingdom (the Kingdom of God under Jesus Christ)
Reading about these
three kingdoms is not simply an exercise in theological curiosity—it's
absolutely central to anyone who wants to live with spiritual authority,
clarity, and purpose in a benighted and confused world.
If you actually get how
these kingdoms function, everything will shift about your spiritual battles,
your earthly calling, and your walk with God. This devotional is your personal
invitation to look closely — so that you can choose to live under the one kingdom
that actually makes a difference.
Side Note
As some of you have
realized, our live devotionals and Bible studies haven't been as consistent in
recent days. I really am grateful to all of you who have messaged. I didn't
quit—just trudged through a very busy period. You may receive slower replies to
your messages, but I will get back to them. Pray on for me, as well as for the
workings of this ministry. The Lord is not finished with us yet.
The Three Active Kingdoms: An Overview
The Bible illustrates a
kingdom economy of the spirit where kingdoms are realms of strength and
authority. Let us discuss each one of these kingdoms individually to learn how
they are different from one another — and how the Kingdom of God stands alone
in reality and power.
1. The Human Kingdoms
We live amidst human
governments — nations, democracies, monarchies, and political entities that
control human society. We are familiar with them because we can observe them.
Formerly, kingdoms were ruled by absolute kings. Whatever the king willed was law. Today, while many countries have shifted towards democratic or a constitutional government, the idea of central rule is one with which we are familiar. But this reassuring concept can prove to be an obstacle to viewing God's kingdom.
Jesus Himself explained this misconception during His own trial: "Jesus answered; My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight. But now is my kingdom not from hence." (John 18:36, KJV)
Jesus emphasized the nonmaterial, non-warlike, non-political nature of His kingdom. In fact, when the crowds sought to corral Him into political kingship, He declined: "When Jesus therefore saw that they would come and take him by force, to make him king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone." (John 6:15, KJV)
Application:
Be careful not to reduce
the Kingdom of God to a simple earthly political hope. Christians have fallen
into this trap — hoping revival through legislation or Christ's rule by earthly
government. While God acts through human institutions, His kingdom is on a
different plane — a plane where love, truth, righteousness, and spiritual
authority flow from heaven's throne into hearts of believers.
2. Satan's Kingdom
Astonishment to the majority is that the Bible easily teaches that Satan has a kingdom — a spiritual kingdom of darkness and control which is not seen. "And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?" (Matthew 12:26, KJV)
How did Satan get this kingdom?
Satan said during the temptation of Jesus: "All this power will I give thee. for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it." (Luke 4:6, KJV)
Satan's point was that
power had been granted unto him — a reference to the fall of man in Genesis,
when Adam lost his God-granted power. Satan did not become king of a material
empire — he became ruler of a spiritual kingdom that rules over the material
world through deception, sin, and spiritual blindness.
Where Is Satan's Kingdom?
You can't map Satan's
kingdom, but its influence is all around — in corrupt systems, wicked
governments, shattered families, media, music, schools, and even some churches.
The Apostle Paul confirms it: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers. against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12, KJV)
Just as God's angels serve His kingdom, demons serve Satan's. We see this starkly in Daniel 10: "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia strove against me. and, behold, Michael. came to help me." (Daniel 10:13, KJV) "The prince of Grecia shall come." (Daniel 10:20, KJV)
Not human monarchs, but
demons assigned to manage nations. Daniel's fight was only part of a larger
battle in the entire universe between the messengers of God and bad powers
governing humanity.
Application
You must release
yourself from seeing people as your enemy. Your real fight is not against flesh
and blood — but against the kingdom of darkness that works secretly. When you
understand this, you'll pray differently, speak differently, and walk in power
over depression, fear, addiction, and curse of generations.
3. The Kingdom of God
This is the kingdom that
Jesus came to establish, and it's entirely different from the others.
For the kingdom of God
is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy
Ghost." (Romans 14:17, KJV)
God's kingdom is not
something that can be touched, but it is real and functioning. It is the realm
where Jesus is ruler and where the Holy Spirit makes the Father's will know. As
often as God's will is being done on earth — either through healing, salvation,
deliverance, or transformation — His kingdom is expanding.
"Who hath redeemed
us from the authority of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of
his beloved Son." (Colossians 1:13, KJV)
God's Kings on Earth
And here is the most
radical truth of all: God has appointed you to be a king.
"And hath made us
kings and priests unto God…" (Revelation 1:6, KJV)
You don't have to be
treated like royalty. You don't sit in a pulpit, a platform, or a political
office — but if you are a member of Christ, you are a king over the kingdom of
the Spirit. That means that you are a king to rule in order to have dominion,
to impose God's will on the earth.
What Are You Ruling Over?
You are not called to
rule people. God's kings rule over:
- Sin
- Sickness
- Fear
- Emotional torment
- Addiction
- Demonic oppression
- Spiritual blindness
"For sin shall not
have dominion over you." (Romans 6:14, KJV)
We have been given the Holy Spirit as the power through which we reign. Jesus referred to this as "the finger of God":
"But if I with the
finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon
you." (Luke 11:20, KJV)
This is your call. This
is your purpose. This is your life if you will choose to live it.
Why So Many Believers Are Powerless
The modern Church far
too often accomplishes more religion than kingdom living. We sing about a
kingdom we don't inhabit. We preach a King we don't listen to. We attend church
but live as spiritual beggars and not as God's commissioned kings.
But remember:
"Where the word of
a king is, there is power." (Ecclesiastes 8:4, KJV)
What you say — if based
on truth — carries kingdom authority. You don't have to wait for a revival. The
King already lives within you.
Practical Ways to Live as a King in God's Kingdom
- Speak the Word with Authority: Speak healing, peace, and freedom over your life and others. Don't beg — speak like a king.
- Walk in Obedience: Kings represent the will of the King of kings. The more you submit, the more your rule.
- Resist the Devil: Do not receive fear, worry, or devilish persecution. You are not a victim — you're God's ambassador.
- Expand God's Kingdom: Evangelize, Pray, Heal the sick, Cast out demons.
Final Reflection
Three kingdoms are
pulling at your attention every day. The kingdom of man brings comfort. The
kingdom of Satan brings deception. But only the Kingdom of God brings eternal
life, light, power, and purpose.
You are more than a
Christian. You are a king.
- Start to rule.
- Speak with authority.
- Destroy the power of darkness.
- Let light shine.
"Arise, shine; for
thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." (Isaiah
60:1, KJV)
