Scripture: Romans 10:15 "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach
the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
Introduction: Walking
with Impact
The
image of a footprint bursting into a row of flowers speaks volumes of an
individual who brings life, color, and beauty wherever he goes — even into
broken, grey places. The ground around the foot is barren and hard, but where
the footsteps on it, flowers burst forth. This image vividly depicts a
believer's calling in Christ: to be agents of change, to leave things changed,
and to beautify hideous broken circumstances with the fragrance of grace.
Every
step we take can leave a permanent mark. When Jesus lives in us, our presence
ought to bring healing, peace, joy, and restoration. Just as Jesus lived on
this earth touching lives, mending the broken, and calling beauty out of ashes —
so should we.
This
message examines the call of the believer to bring spiritual color to a
black-and-white world, to live on purpose, and to leave a trail of life.
1. The Power of
Presence: Bringing God's Nature Wherever You Go
As
children of God, we are carriers of His presence. Wherever we go, we ought to
bring:
- Light into darkness (Matthew 5:14)
- Peace into conflict (John 14:27)
- Love in hate (John 13:35)
The
shoe in the photo is nicely painted but the background is uninteresting. This
is an allegory of the spiritual kind: God does not take us to blend with our
world but to revive it. We, as carriers of the Holy Spirit, are called to bring
out the beauty of the Kingdom.
2. Beauty for Ashes: God
Uses Us to Restore
Isaiah
61:3 says to exchange beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. That's
what the flowers are here in this photograph — God's restoration. You can be in
a difficult place, but because of what is in you, flowers bloom where you walk.
- You bring restoration to broken families.
- You bring hope to desperate hearts.
- You bring light into darkness.
Even
your tests, if followed in faith, can plant seeds that become testimonies to
God's goodness.
3. Your Journey is not
in Vain: Every Step Counts
Most
believers feel like they're invisible. They wonder if it matters what steps
they take. This picture says it does: YES. Your footfalls sow seeds. What you
do in obedience to God, even when it seems quiet, causes life to sprout.
- Galatians 6:9 – "Let us not grow weary in
well doing."
- Psalm 119:105 – “Your Word is a lamp to my
feet.”
Your
walk matters. Whether you're raising children, leading quietly at work, or
ministering to strangers, heaven sees your steps.
4. A Path Others Can
Follow
The
blooming flowers serve as a trail. They show that someone has passed through
and left something behind. Spiritually, this is what discipleship is.
2 Timothy 2:2 – ". Commit these to
faithful men who will also teach others."
Who
is coming after you? What will they find? Make your walk a walk of legacy — not
just trudging through existence but planting life along the way.
5. Walking in Color in a
Grey World
The
contrast in the photograph — colorful shoe and flowers against black-and-white
background — isn't coincidental:
- The world is fractured, cynical, and desolate.
- But the believer walks in faith, love, and beauty.
- Romans 12:21 – “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Don’t
let your environment shape you. Be the one who brings color to it. Your
kindness, your prayers, your words of encouragement — they matter.
6. Seeds Under Your Feet:
Every Step Plants Something
The
Bible reminds us in Psalm 126:6, "He that goeth forth and weepeth,
bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing."
Each
step you take obeying God plants seeds:
- In prayer
- In service
- In standing firm for truth
- In loving your enemies
They
may not burst open right away, but the parable instructs us they will
flower.
7. The Gospel Leaves
Life Behind
Romans
10:15 praises the feet of the good tidings bearers. There is an aroma, a
blessing, a life-giving way in the track of the bearer of the Gospel.
Wherever
Jesus walked, there was healing, lifting, forgiving. And now He walks in us.
Ask
yourself:
- Do people feel uplifted when I depart?
- Are my words planting life or death?
- Is my walk faith or fear?
Let
your presence sound out like Christ's.
8. Even the Dust Can
Bloom
The
ground in the picture is dry and dusty. But flowers still bloom. That's what
grace does—it makes the impossible possible.
Your
past could be that dry. Your circumstances could be that tough. But the Spirit
of God can cause something to come forth out of brokenness.
Isaiah 43:19 – "I will make a way in the
wilderness and rivers in the desert."
You
are not limited by your past. God lives through you, not just in you.
Conclusion: Walk Like
Jesus Walked
Jesus
had a legacy of miracles, mercy, and meaning. As His followers, we are called
to do the same.
- Walk boldly.
- Walk faithfully.
- Walk with purpose.
- Walk knowing every step you take can change the atmosphere.
Let
your stride be vibrant in a drab world. Let your steps scatter flowers of
kindness.
Final Declaration:
Lord,
perfume my walk with Your fragrance. Let my footprints heal where there is
pain, joy where there is sorrow, and loveliness where there is damage. Let
flowers bloom wherever I walk. Amen.
